My husband and I purchased a timeshare on our honeymoon in October 2011 at the ME by Melia in Cancun. I can honestly say that this experience had caused me to become overly stressed, we tried canceling before the 5 day period and they made it impossible,u husband was laid off work and there insurance won't pay our monthly payments. They take automatic payments when they want, they have not Respected any of the terms in the contract including section 70 of the consumers protection law. It seems as though there is no way out, I have filed a formal complaint to the better business bureau, the American resort development association and the California's state attorney general office. My next step is to do a class action law suit, this is illegal!!!

Tengo membresia con Sol Melia Vacation Club en Cozumel y queria cancelarla por razones personales, no me quieren concerder la cancelacion y ha sido motivo de discusiones con mi esposa,Me dicen que me van a conceder la cancelacion solo si termino de pagar la membresia, pero despues de leer todas estas historias tengo miedo de perder mas dinero y no me den la cancelacion, me gustaria que alguien que con experiencia, que haya pasado por la misma situacion que yo me pueda, dar un consejo.

We just got back from our vacation and found all these complaints for the Sol Melia, they sold us a time share and we want out, we purchased last friday, and we were offered all the things that other people were offered, gave our existing timeshare and $ as a deposit. Any Advace?

Thisis my 5th day of my contract and they say I can´t cancel because I waived by rights because I purchased a previously sold property at a reduced price. I do not find that waiver nor was I told about it. They also moved us to the new unit and tell me I can´t cancel because of that. Mainly I went back because I thought they were taking my other units until I read that another company would call me. Also, the additional weeks are through a different company.

I have a timeshare with SM when I tried to book for the latter part of this year where we had the presentation, they said I package I bought only included other resorts and did not include the place we had the presentation. If I would have known that, I would not have bought it. I don't want to pay for something I did not recieve. Bait and switch situation and they never disclosed that.

I was on a vacation in Sol Melia Resort Punta Cana. I have not been able to use my Sol Melia and still paying membership. I was told I can not cancel. However, I am extremely in debt and have no need to continue paying for unused. What are my options? They only option that I can think of is Bankrupt.

My wife and I were on our honeymoon, we were confronted by melia reps at the the airport. dont fall for there charming personalities, they are the most smooth talkers in the business.(just like car salesmen) They told us the same thing that they told other unsuspecting customers that they would be able to rent out our unused weeks for a profit.So I've been doing research on vacations and it is cheaper to use priceline rather than buy into a melia timeshare even if you stay at a melia resort!!! Timeshares are a waste of money you get nothing for what you pay for it!!!!!! WATCH OUT FOR MELIA

I purchased a Sol Melia membership a few years back and I haven´t been able to rent it. I never received the room I was supposed to purchase but I do have the obligation to pay the membership whether I use it or not. I was told I cannot cancel. Is this true?
