I´m very dissatisfied with my membership with el cid, first hey told me that they would rent my weeks but they never did, I let it pass but I always have problems to contact them, they never have availability for me, I had my membership for 5 years now and I only been able to used my membership once, and when I used the rooms were dirty, I don’t know what happened with this resort it is supposed to be a good resort. I have been waiting for a long time to see if it improves the situation, but I am tired of expecting and not seeing improvements
Tim
I also want to cancel my membership. The monthly fees, the maintenances fees and the special assessments are too much money to pay for a membership that I do not use. I have read that to pay to a company in order to resell your membership is not the best option, so I want to know if someone knows another good option to get out of this timeshare. If someone can suggest something to me, I would be very grateful.

el cid el moro beach towers...we cancelled within 5 days for the refund....never got done...paid for while then wanted out as we couldnt book any vacations at times wanted...couldnt rent weeks as promised resale in toilet which is totaly opposite of what was promissed as well as the new spain vacation that was supposedly free but was told they were not accepting those certificates and it would cost 549 per person and all food and drink....no calls returned just a monthly letter from a california based collection agency. we have paid thousands into this scam

On January 2, 2010 we bought a membership from the El Cid Resorts in Cancun. We now believe we have been misled as, according to the seller, we were to receive monies from our other timeshare properties in order to purchase the property at El Cid. We have tried to make contact with the resort since the purchase, with no response. At this point we no longer wish to continue. Please help us to cancel the contract and recover our money.

My husband and I were invited to a timeshare presentation by a very friendly person. When we were there, we purchased a membership for $35,000 at El Cid and we paid in full. The next day we attempted to cancel our contract at the resort within the 5 day cancellation period, but the seller told us that we couldn´t as we had signed a waiver rescinding our right to cancel the timeshare within 5 day recsission period. We believed him and we returned home, thinking that the only thing that we could do was to use the membership, but when my hunsband found your web page on internet he read an article about the recsission period and we noticed that we were scammed and what the seller told us was a lie.

I was scammed by el cid, they sold my something different that I what I thought I was buying because the salesman told me that they would help me to rent my weeks and el cid would take my California timeshare as a part of the deal but nothing of that happen and I´m worried because I don’t have enough money to pay the membership in full. My friend told me that you can help me, I hope you can.
Mandy
I am very desperate, I went to a presentation of timeshare at El cid and I ended up by buying a membership, the monthly payments are very high and all the promises that the sales person said to us are not in our contract and certainly now the sales person and his manager do not want to take responsibility . I have been emailing them to let them know my desire of canceling the contract. but they don’t answer my emails and when they finally did , they told me in a rude way that I couldn´t cancel my membership.
Richard
I just want to know if I´m out of my 5 days cancellation period, Can I cancel my membership? Because I´m not happy with some promises they made us and they told us now that they not going to be honored, because there are not in the contract.
Sue
I´m tired of be ignored, I have been trying to contact the responsible this timeshare scam and nobody respond me, if I´m late with my payments they always send me emails to remain me that I need to pay my membership but when I sent them my petition of cancellation they disappeared and never answer my emails and phone calls

What can we do if a seller from el cid promised us that he would sell our old timeshare and he didn`t call us back neither answered our calls and emails. Should we call his supervisor? Or what we should do?

We were invivted to a presentation at el cid vacation club, we were tired and we want to go rest to our hotel so we purchased a membership, but under some conditions, the seller told us that we don have to pay maintanances fees and of course that took our attention and we though that the membership it was a really good opportunity also the salesman told us that they could take our existing timeshare and that money could been used to paid part of the membership and we almost have to pay a little amout we signed the papers of course we felt pushed and we didn´t read all the papers pretty well, so all what he promised to us it wasn´t in the contract and of course they don´t want to honored.
Daniel
Hi, I’m interested in your services, a couple of months a purchased a membership at El cid and it is a scam, I need your help, and I need to cancel this contract.
Nancy
We purchased a membership because the seller told us that if we don`t want it anymore s we can sell it back, we got back to the resort and we told them what the seller told us and they response that they don´t buy timeshares , can you believe it that?
Rosario

I`m very concern because I purchased a membership based in lies, I ´m sharing my experience because I don’t want that this happen to other tourists , these people are bad and they steal your money in a smart way. Be careful and stay away from timeshare presentations.
Thomas
I`m in my 5 days recession period and I need your help, I want to be sure about the process that I need to follow, please contact me to get the best advice.

We bought a timeshare in Mazatlan we were told many lies about rental income we were promised to receive, I have tried to contact the resort to discuss our situation but it was impossible they are hiding from us.
Murray
I purchase a membership at el cid under the understanding that they would rent my weeks and my timeshare would be paid by itself with that money. I paid $23,000 as a down payment, I have called to the broker company but they never answer my phones and I have never used the timeshare. I though this is not a good invest for me and I`m looking the cancellation of my contract.
Anely
We went to a timeshare presentation at el cid resort, we were very tired and we only wanted to go back to our hotel, we bought a membership because the seller told us that we could cancel the membership at the end of the day in an easy way but if we wanted the gifts we have to attend the presentation . We got back to the resort the next day in order to cancel our timeshare contract as the seller told us but they told us that the person in charge was not able to receive us . We did not have any communication with someone until we got back home and he told us that we couldn`t cancel our contract.
Hany
I just want to know if what the resort told me about selling my timeshare and if they didn`t ? is that considered a timeshare scam?
Due
I purchased a membership with El cid for $20,000 US on 15 July, all that the seller told me was a lie I`m so angry and I want to get rid of this contract.
Norman
El cid it is a fraud, they used their sales tactics and we were told the same lies, the resale value of our timeshare was a lie . We are looking for a full reimbursement, we hope that you could accept our case and help us.
Mary
We bought a membership at el cid, they refereed us to a rental company which guaranteed to pay us $12,700 US dollars, for the rental of all 6 weeks. The amount to be paid to us was going to be $12,700 US dollars. We called the resort and they told us that we don´t have 6 weeks, we only have 2 weeks and that the rental company wasn´t able to rent our weeks.

My wife and I were at EL Cid in February 2010. Went to a time share briefing with a guy named Frank from England. We told him no and then he brought in his supervisor Lui Veloso, who is mentioned many times for lying. Lui told us he would take our Wyndham time share as a tradein and El Cid would sell it for us by 1 May, 2010 and we would not pay another penny!! He/El Cid was to sell it and give us an additional 28,000 points for $3,000.00. After a couple of months I e-mailed him to see if it had sold yet and he says "you are suppose to sell it". He had a lady call us and say we had to pay an additional $199.00 to sell. I told her to get the money from El Cid and she never called back. I complained to Lui Veloso again and he said we could cancel and he would e-mail a cancellation form. The form would cancel but they were to keep the $3,300.00. I marked out the part where they could keep the $3,300.00 and sent to the office in Las Vegas. (let's go after the office in las Vegas, I am doing that now). they have not cancelled and I am getting billed for $11,700.00. They will nevere get a penny because of his lies. We have to get after him and El Cid. I have 8 weeks with the Grand Mayan, 4 with Sea Garden and 2 with wyndham. Would anyone thing I would buy another $15.000.00 time sharae for the next 25 years when I am 73. What a bunch of lying thieving scumbags they are. I am writing the Mexican and USA Ambassadors and all others should do the same. Go to every agency we can to get the money back and have them put in jail for FRAUD, ROBBERY AND LYING. I have also been taken by La Jolla Botique Resort in Mazatlan and Coast to Coast Grand Getaways in Sarasota, just like many others. I am going after them too. Coast to Coast Grand Getaways may be worse than El Cid or La Jolla. I am a 73 year old retired Army LT Colonel and just thought they were honest. I have been on this almost every damn day for 2 years. Lets also pass all of this to credit card companies. They need to be more helpful when their card holders are being lied to and robbed by fraud. I am also going to pass this on to the Governors in Arizona and Colorado, major airports for Mexico. they should put out information about the time share liars and robbers.

We have had the same issues as others have mentioned. Mr. Rui Velosa promised us that we could rent our timeshare during the Spring break period and that would pay for our upgrade. This did not happen and we are stuck with the payments. Additionally we have found out that he forged my brothers signature on the documents that were signed that completed the trade in of our old time share unit for the new El Cid club points.
Javier
I tried to cancel my timeshare trough profeco and I got nothing I want to know if you could help me, I bought 15k and it was 5 years ago.

I found on internet a consumer complaint about el cid, they wrote the number of his contract and it is the same as mine, is that normal or I should be worried?
Karen
We had a membership at el cid for over 10 years now, we don´t wanted anymore. We don’t want the reimburse of our money because we used it a couple of times, but we don’t want keep paying maintenance fees. Can you help us to cancel it?
Brett
I went to Mazatlan 7 months ago and I purchased a membership at el cid, my wife told that timeshares are not a good investment , but anyhow I decided to buy a membership, Now I realize what my wife told me was totally truth, the seller told us they could rent our timeshare and we would not have to worry about how to pay the maintenances because the timeshare will pay for itself, but surprise it doesn´t and I can´t afford it because I have financial problems and now my wife and I are getting divorcing all because of the membership.
Danielle
I bought a timeshare at el cid. I was told by the seller that they would take my old timeshare because I didn`t want to have two timeshares. After 12 months I got a call from my old timeshare and they told me that they couldn`t sell it and I that I have to pay them for maintenance and is $150 mores for interests because I didn`t pay on time. Now I have 2 timeshare which I can`t afford and a I have another debt all thanks to them.

I went to Mazatlan and I was scammed by El cid, the salesman lied to me about my points, they told me that with my points I was going to have the right for more weeks in high season, I bought the membership because I thought that what they offered to me was a good opportunity, once I got back home I read my contract more carefully and I noticed many contradictory things that the salesman never told me. The salesperson made a lot of promises which were obviously false and totally misleading. I was of the full understanding that we would have an even trade for the Royal Elite property, all would be settled in the 9 month period with the guarantee sale by Phoenix Vacation Property Management Co for the amount of $14,500.00 USD, 14 months later and we continue waiting for a response…

We went to a horrorible presentation, the person who invited us told us that if we assisted to a presentation of 90 minutes we could get tickets for a spa and $ 1000MX, they were trying to get us drunk given us margaritas , my husband drank only one but when the salesman offered him another one and he didn´t want it the salesman got angry. After 4 long hours of presentation we were tired. We were foolish and bought a membership that we now discover was over value and it´s not a good deal for us.
Rosa
I´m not happy with my el cid membership, first they told me something and then I found another different thing in my contract, they lied TO me and stole my money, I don´t recommend you go to this resort , TOURISTS BE AWARE.
Gracie
I purchased a membership at el cid; the salesman told me that I had 8 weeks at year. Last week I called the resort and they told me that I don’t have my 8 weeks because they only sell points and the points that I bought are only enough for 2 weeks.
Mat
I purchase a timeshare at El cid, I didn´t felt happy with my purchase so I decided to go back to the resort to cancel my membership, the salesman told me that what I had to do is upgrade my timeshare, so that´s what I did. Now I have the same problem and less money in my account.
David
We bought a timeshare at el cid; they told us that our current timeshare would sell in 90 days. The 90 days period expired one week ago. Should we call the resort?
Garry
We own at El Cid in Mazatlan, Mexico. We bought a week at this property about 25 years ago, but were talked into converting to points about 2 years ago. The claims they made have not been reality and we´re ready to get rid of the whole thing. it is paid in full. to anyone reading, walk away as soon as you see someone from the El Cid tshirt approaching you.
Anna
Just returned from Mazatlan, Mexico. We got caught up in the updating of our timeshare and Fernando Alonso promised us the resale of our Whyndam property to cover the cost of our new purchase.
We have seen the numerous complaints this person and company has and wish to cancel. This was one of our most stupid decisions of all time.
Michael
I purchased a timeshare at El Cid in 2009 based on the false promises by the salesman. During the sales presentation, I was promised that the 40, 000 points I purchased would be enough for 3 weeks per year to anywhere in the world. Later that same night after signing, I realized that most of the destinations cost well over 30, 000 points per week and with many restrictions. The two week vacation promised would be a scam.

When my wife and I were suckered into the purchase of the timeshare at El Cid at Porto Morales, we were under the impression it was a "Vacation Club". Nowhere in the contract does it claim to be a timeshare. We put down a deposit of over $9,000 and paid the first year maintenance fees-$800.00. We were told they would sell our paid off timeshare in Las Vegas as a token of their appreciation for signing with them. I still have that timeshare and they did NOTHING to try to sell it. I make maintenance payments yearly but they claim I am to make monthly maintenance fees. The contract clearly states that I am to make annual maintenance fees. They now allege that I am behind on Maintenance fees. For January and February. I get letters stating this and I refuse to pay because I paid by check the last time and told my credit card company not to pay them when they use my credit card. They have used my credit card without my authorization. They claim that they sent me a refund and to check with my bank. I did and I could not find a refund check. They botched their records. When they starting harassing me about payment-sending emails and letters, that is when I had enough. They breached the contract and I want out.

My husband and I just returned from a trip to Mazatlan and we were scammed into buying a timeshare in El Cid resort. Our timeshare presenter told us that they offered a special package for people like us. We could rent out our points each year for a minimum of $5,000. He promised that by renting out our points we would have absolutely no out of pocket costs for 5 years. At the end of 5 years, we would have a timeshare that was mostly paid off, with no cost to us. That was when they asked for a credit card, just to check if we were qualified for the wonderful deal that they were offering us. They returned with a credit line that they opened in our name, that would cover the $7,900 dollar deposit.
When we returned home we found out that everything the presenter promised was a lie.
JJ
I went to El cid on December 10, 2009. I purchased a membership there, they got by telling me that they would sell my timeshare for $17,000 and also they lied about the amount of points available to use for future vacations. There were also many addendums added for additional weeks and other promotions. I´m trying to contact my salesman to cancel my timeshare, but he never answer back my phone calls, I´m desperate and I don’t know what to do now.
Amelia & Vernon
We were misrepresented by Rui Veloso at The El Cid The El Moro in Mazatlan, Mexico. We have paperwork given by him stating the rental of the weeks and the 8,000 USD we were supposed to receive out of the rental. He won´t honor his part of the deal and The El Cid does not care about the promises made by their salesman. I see that the owner of The El Cid is Carlo Berdegue, Do you have his email address by any chance?
Thank you.
Megan
I purchased a timeshare from El Cid La Ceiba , in Cozumel MX. It took place on June, 2005. I first dealt with, the Owners Advocate who turned it over to My consumer Activist. It has been sitting with these people for years , and I cannot get anything done on my behalf. I never paid a penny on this share, and have an unusual story to tell on my behalf. I recently tried contacting the owners advocate just to find out that they filed for bankrupcy so there is no way to get my $999 paid to them. Is there anything you could help me to resolve this? It has affected my credit, and also my job searches, they also look at credit reports when applying for work. I have the affidavid, and paperwork you could read to get an Idea . I paid the Owners Advocate , a cost of $1000.00 in the beginning , and they still cannot tell me what I paid for. I am very dissapointed in these two organizations. Now, I see that they have a new website called Taking On Timeshare and looks identically to the webpage the owners advocate used to have.
Chris
Bought El Cid membership. Was lied too and have spent a ton of money in monthly fees so far and 3800 downpayment. If I get a group of 5 people, would our testimony help us filing a class action lawsuit in Mexico? Is the owner of this group Carlo Berdegue?

I take my employees on company trips and I was scammed into buying a program with El Cid at Mazatlan, Mexico a few years ago. Here's my story... I had already ordered a package from Carnaval Vacation Rewards. I have used that program to take 20+ of my employees on two cruises. No problems with them... ever. When I was in Mazatlan, however, I was approached by a shyster salesman for them, and I told him about taking my emloyees on trips. He told me I got ripped off with Carnival, and proceeded to tell me (us really. My wife, and another couple. The husband is my best friend, and the Sheriff of our county) that he had a super deal for me that would save me far more than Carnival could. Knowing I was going to continue to take my best people on trips, I decided to listen to him. Bad idea. First of all, I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, and allow them to fix things if something goes wrong. That hasn't happened. The guy lied straight to our faces when I specifically asked him "Is this a time share program?". He said no. He lied, and I found that out shortly thereafter when the bills started coming. I went ahead and was paying the monthly bills for over a year and a half, and I figured I would use the RCI program for trips.. but I can never book a trip for myself... much less setting anything up for my employees. I was able to get a four day pass to Hilton Head... the only thing they had anywhere near what I wanted to do. After four attempts to get a reservation in Williamsburg VA, Asheville, NC, Savannah, GA, and Charleston, SC... I gave up and stopped paying for nothing... which is exactly what I was getting from these clowns. I have been turned over to a collection agency as of today. I will vigorously fight these people, and I will sue them if they do turn me over to a collection agency and attempt to trash my perfect credit I've worked hard to maintain. Avoid these crooks like the plague. Read the other complaints against these unscrupulous folks at EL Cid.
Patrick
Just bought El Cid ts in Porto Morales,Mexico. They took dwn pmt of 2,500 on Wells Fargo card. TS was bought at price of 8900 or 77,000 pts a year. Promised 2 weeks on odd yrs. Led to believe the pts were in addition to the 2 wks-not given to buys your 2 weeks with. They said they could be used to buy upgrades, tours and airline tickets, etc. Once we arrived home we had time to look into this a little more and realized that 77,000 pts will hardly cover the cost of 4 or 5 days at any resort.
susie and John D.
We have been lied to by Rui Veloso @ El Cid Mazatlan he guaranteed a rental of timeshare , as this would cover most of the costs of our ( upgrade) AS WE were El Cid Fairshare owners allready.. We have e-mails and copys of the rental contract.

I have 2 timeshares (not by choice). I would like to resolve the problems I have had with them. The first is Mayan Palace the second is El Cid ( who promised to sell Mayan if I bought from them and did nothing). I would be happy to engage your services and look forward to hearing from you.
Bruce
We purchased shares in El Cid in December of 2007. We are not getting the promised full access to RCI, as we cannot book vacations directly through RCI (as we could under our previous full membership). Everything must be booked through El Cid, which is not what we were promised, and which is relatively useless. Moreover, I cannot recall that we were advised that we had three days after signing to avoid the contract. Does this provide grounds for us to declare El Cid in breach, so as to allow us to avoid the contract, or can you provide us with any other solution?
Sandy
In about 2005 we bought a timeshare from El Cid in Mazatlan. This was a scam from the start with the salesperson being a Fernando Gonzalez. Nothing we were told was factual and we were told that we had signed a waiver that did not allow us to cancel. We paid $18,000 for it and used it only the next year, with nothing being as it was promised. Since that time we have tried to return it asking nothing but to be released from the contract. We have paid up-front to have it sold but have been scammed once more. We stopped paying the maintenance fee this year and tried to give it back again to no avail. They have now turned this over to a debt collector. We will never use this again as everything about it has been lies. Can you help us find a solution? We are away from our home for the winter so did not receive the notice until today which states that we have only to Jan. 23 (30 days) before negative credit reports. Thanking you for any help.
Michael Eichenberg
My wife and I purchased 300,000 El Cid points for around $35,000. I had reservations but they sold us on the connection to RCI and that we could use our points at either El Cid or through RCI. Even in the contract it indicates an RCI membership. I tried to use the RCI and have yet to receive an ID from El Cid. There is no way to transfer the raw points. RCI says it needs to be handled through El Cid, when you attempt this, you get the run around. They want to charge you four times the points. RCI has many deals that can used on short notice, but it is impossible to use these points as was promised in the presentation.
We were also promised the food and beverage costs would stay the same and now they are higher. The resort is nice, but we did not purchase the vacation club to be stuck only with El Cid. This has turned out to be a real problem as we put down $7,500 and made several payments before giving up on the scam.
We have stopped making payments as a result. I have written letters and faxes as well as made numerous calls and sent emails. Still no satisfaction.

My father and his wife signed up for a timeshare unit through El Cid in Mazatlan last October. Me, my husband, and my kids were also with them at the meeting and other family members were at the resort with us. My father had already purchased a basic package the year prior to that with the understanding that our vacation there would be free and that food, drinks, and other amenities would be free. The meeting took place on our first day there. It was to upgrade my father to VIP status. He was promised that he would be able to sell his points to pay for this upgrade and then again every year after for a profit. We were also told that his entire family would be able to get 1/2 price airfare, hotels, and car rentals. He signed up and paid a down payment with the rest due in April of this year. They promised that he would not have to pay any more in April as he would have earned enough by then to pay it off. When we went to check out of the resort, they were going to charge him for each of the four rooms, food, drinks and other amenities that he believed were supposed to be free because of his original contract. He did end up still paying some but they did not charge him for the rooms and the rest of the food that were on his bill. He asked me to bring home the contract and figure out how to sell his points and get the 1/2 price airfare for my family. I called RCI and they had no such programs. I called El Cid and they did not have any such programs either nor would they talk to me about what had been said. They told me that the original man that we talked to would call me back and he never did. I have been calling and trying to email them since. I have to email through their website as I have no email contact information for them and they do not return my emails and I do not have a copy of them either. I just found your website and am wondering if it is too late to try and get out of this contract. In October the week after he signed up, they were telling me that I would have to wait until January to be able to sell the points. They said that they were going to send an ID number in the mail by then. They never sent the number. I emailed RCI and they gave me this ID number in January but they said that they had never heard of this program and I would have to contact El Cid directly to figure it out. I have called and so has my father repeatedly but no one will talk to us about it. When I call El Cid, they give me the number for RCI. When I call RCI, they give me the number for El Cid. My father went to their San Diego office and talked to a man there. He gave my father a business card with his information on it. He told my father to have me email him a complaint with the details in it. I have tried emailing the address on the card and the email does not exist. My father has called San Diego and Mazatlan repeatedly and they say that since these promises are not written in the contract, there is nothing we can do. My father gets billed every month for the cleaning fees and they automatically deduct it from his credit card. He has not paid any of the timeshare payments at all. They call and are threatening him constantly. I am wondering if he can get out of both or at least the last contract or has it been too long ago now? It has been a year since the VIP contract was signed and two years since he got the first contract.

bought vacation time in El Cid, Puerto Morales Mexico...we bought a studio, nothing else...now when we tried to book vacation they informed us that we need to purchase the \"all inclusive\". ..so we need to pay $68.00 per person per day to stay in the studio that we bought!!!

I was down staying in Mazatlan, Mexico with an another couple and I met with the El Cid Resort group. We were told that El Cid would sell our other time shares in 90 days and gave us the price for each different time share. This money could be the down payment on their El Cid VIP club. That must really \"very ignorant person\"!! So, after putting $18,000 down and signing on for the balance, which was supposed to be paid off by the proceeds of the properties. Until the property monies were transferred, we would make a payment of $672.03. This would only be until Oct 1, and all would be taken care of. Well El Cid will not return any of our e-mails and the contact information they gave us do not work. The main culprit we dealt with was Lic. Fernando Alonso Gonzalez, El Cid Management. The only communication that comes is for the payments, which also include a $109 monthly maintenance payment!!! I am exploring a way to approach this problem, legally, if possible. This seems to be a complete scam. Now tomorrow is Oct 1, and I expect NOTHING AT ALL FROM El Cid!
Now looking for other persons in this same state.

We bought into El Cid Vacation Club this past April 2009, they had me sign over a timeshare property that my mom and I owned. My mom was not there and so she did not sign this agreement. She feels this was wrong, in that they should have had both our They said this was so easy to use, so cheap, so affordable. Well it isn\'t, it is deceptive, I get bills that say I\'m late in payments, charging me late fees that I didn\'t even get a first bill for. They told me there were no maintenace fees for RCI, I\'ve paid them $600 already! We want out! Thank you for any help!signatures since they were on the original contract. So I am wondering if this was even legal.

In jJan. \'07,wE purchased 308,000 points from Rui Veloso of El Cid Vacation resorts in Mazatlan. Mr. Veloso drew up an agreement to rent out our points to help to pay for the contract#0605599, in Dec. of that year. According to this agreement the rental would be guaranteed to provide us with the sum of $10,000 US. no later than January of \"08. We did not receive this money at that time or since. We have had to borrow money to pay for the contract. THe rental company did not receive notice to rent out our points . We ended up owing El Cid collections a total of $12,333 US as interest had accrued . Mr. Veloso sent us a cheque for $1200. US, in July of \'08. He has since refused to honour the agreement drawn up, saying he works for El Cid ,not the rental company.
